So after you flip the top up and the front out, you can pull the camera out of the case. You pull flip the top up, then the front (with the silver logo) flips down (towards you in the photo) revealing that this front piece has a top part that sits parallel to the original/outer top. It can be annoying.I would prefer a simpler, top up camera out case. From the photo you would logically think that the top flips up and you pull the camera up out of the case. However that is not the case.
I should have ordered the Canon PSC-4000 Deluxe Leather Case that is for the Canon SX10IS Digital Camera which I have. The case is compact and well built.I ordered this case by mistake and it was too small for my camera. The second case attaches to the side of the camera case.
It stays closed via a magnetic snap, assisted by velcro. It's about the size of a 1-1/2"" cube. It has a strap so it can be attached to your belt.
It can be used to hold a spare memory card and a backup battery for the camera. I returned the PSC-5000, but after looking it over, I was impressed and did order the PSC-4000. To open the PSC-5000 case the front pulls away at the top.
A small, second case comes with the package.
There's a small side case for extra memory cars if needed. I use the belt clip but it comes with a carrying strap too. Great case for my G9. Well made and keeps my camera protected.
By the way it looks nice as well and attached to your belt. This is a must have for your average photographer that wants to protect his/her investment.
Surely somebody is marketing a more useful case for the G9. It is most unfortunate that this not-inexpensive camera is sold without a case of any kind, but this is certainly not a reasonable solution to that problem. I am still looking for it. I bought it; I tried it; I sent it back. This case is bulky, awkward to use, and provides limited protection.
